Biography

Eric Shanfield, whose work has been described as “subtle,” “engaging,” and “unexpected” by the New York Times, is a Brooklyn-based composer of chamber and vocal music. Educated at the Manhattan School of Music, he studied privately with composer/instrumentalist Elliott Sharp and performed frequently with leading improvisers and groups including Mr. Sharp’s Orchestra Carbon. Mr. Shanfield’s music has been championed by artists such as Timo Andres, Mellissa Hughes, Rachel Lee Priday, David Kaplan, Bearthoven, Exceptet, and Fragments Duo, with recent performances at the Tribeca New Music Festival and the MATA Interval Series.
