Eric Shanfield (b. 1979) is a Brooklyn-based composer whose work has been described as “subtle,” “engaging”, and “unexpected” by the New York Times. Educated at the Manhattan School of Music, he studied privately with composer/instrumentalist Elliott Sharp and as a trumpeter performed frequently with leading improvisers at venues such as the Knitting Factory and Tonic. Mr. Shanfield’s music has been championed by artists including Timo Andres, ACME, Bearthoven, Mellissa Hughes, Rachel Lee Priday, David Kaplan, and Exceptet.
