Eric Shanfield (b. 1979) is a Brooklyn-based composer whose work has been described as “subtle,” “engaging”, and “unexpected” by the New York Times. Educated at the Manhattan School of Music, he studied privately with composer/instrumentalist Elliott Sharp and as a young trumpeter performed frequently with leading improvisers at legendary venues including the Knitting Factory and Tonic. Mr. Shanfield’s music has been championed by artists including Timo Andres, the American Contemporary Music Ensemble, Bearthoven, Mellissa Hughes, Rachel Lee Priday, David Kaplan, and Exceptet, with recordings forthcoming from Mr. Andres and ACME.
